Mary Brown, 1922–2025, loving mother and grandmother

Mary E. (Bystrom) Brown passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, at the Mary Ann Morse Nursing Center in Natick. She was 103. 

Mary was born on Aug. 28, 1922, in Osterville, a daughter of the late John P. and Anna (Halloran) Bystrom. She relocated to Waltham in the 1940’s where she lived most of her life. She was employed by Raytheon Corporation for over 42 years. After her retirement, she was an active member of the North Waltham Seniors and the Waltham Senior Center, enjoying many activities and trips sponsored by the center.

She leaves her son, Allen G. Brown Jr. and his wife, Jane of Framingham; her granddaughter, Kristin Brown and her fiancé, Nate Prayer of California; her nephew, Neil Rubado and his wife, Kathy of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews on Cape Cod and in the Boston area. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Martha Rubado of Weston and Mashpee and Dorothy Garrity of Weston.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Mary’s life on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20), Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston. There are no calling hours.
