The Stanley Elementary School gym was packed the morning of Dec. 19 with students, teachers and parents celebrating the end-of-year holiday concert.

The concert is an annual Stanley event that showcases performances by each grade as they sing winter and snow-themed songs, and classical pieces are performed by the school orchestra and band. More than 400 students across K-2 through 5th grade performed for a very receptive audience of family and friends.

Under the direction of music teacher Megan DiSciscio,  students at Stanley prepped for the show by rehearsing the holiday classics and learning the basics of how to perform for an audience.

Stanley has a strong music curriculum. Starting at the kindergarten level, classes are taught on the fundamentals of singing, how to keep a steady beat, and musical movement through creative songs and activities.

All the teaching and practicing paid off. Clapping and cheering could be heard throughout the concert with a loud ovation for the K-2 performance to end the show.
