WBGC director of program operations Anna Sebunnya welcomes community volunteers and club members to the MLK Jr. Day of Service with a quote from King: “Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve.”
The Waltham Boys & Girls Club invited families and other residents to a community service day on Monday, Jan. 19, to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through hands-on volunteer activities and a local food drive.
Participants were divided into four volunteer groups, each focusing on a different community-building project.
One group prepared hygiene kits and sorted food donations for Healthy Waltham, supporting families and individuals in need.

Another group baked and packaged homemade dog treats for local animal shelters.
WBGC Torch Club member Adreanna and Art Specialist Nicole McSweeney are proud of the hand made healthy dog treats fresh from the oven to be donated to local animal shelters.Colorful stickers created by volunteers to seal dog treat bags.
The third team designed lawn signs promoting messages of hope and equity, to be displayed around the city and at local schools.

The fourth group created handmade crafts and artwork for the international Arts for Little Hearts initiative, which sends care packages to children in hospitals around the world.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service kept many club members busy and smiling, knowing that their efforts might bring joy and comfort to others in need.
