Kings of Swing play to full house at Stanley Senior Center
One of Boston’s best swing, Latin and Top 40 bands entertained more than 100 seniors at a sold-out concert at the Stanley Senior Center on Friday.
Bob Defelice and Steve Heck from the Kings of Swing performed live before a packed and toe-tapping audience, covering such classics as “In the Mood,” “Oh Dolly,” “Take the A Train” and “New York New York.”
The band has performed all over New England and played with other top acts over the years, including Buddy Rich, Count Basie and Duke Ellington.

Hi, Steve, very nice article and photos about Steve and me appearing at the Stanley Senior Center last Friday. I see you mxed an account of the event with notes from the Kings of Swing website http://www.kingsofswingboston.com. Please note: Steve and I have never played with Basie, Rich or Ellington but “other” musicians who played in the Kings of Swing played with those bands. The audience was overwhelmingly pleased with our music, applauded after every song; I handed out more than 20 business cards afterwards that include our website and 4-tunes, music sampler. Pat O’Brien said he wants us back, perhaps our 6 or 7 piece Kings of Swing mini big band for the barbecue in June or July. Please come up and say hello if you’re there!
