A common belongs to the people

To the Editor,

I’ve already sent a letter directly to Mayor McCarthy indicating my concerns about her unilateral decision on time limits for common activities.

As I understand it, a common belongs to the people or a town or city. Once used for community grazing for cows it has evolved — especially in Waltham — into a place for community activities that reflect and support our community.

Sadly, for me, this decision echoes some authoritarian vibes floating in the air these days.
