Student artists from WHS take the spotlight at LexArt exhibit

For many Waltham High School student artists, the regional high school art show at the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society is their first opportunity to display their work in a professional gallery. The show runs through Sunday. Exhibit hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The 30th annual high school exhibit at LexArt showcases the creativity and innovation of area students and high school art programs and helps raise funds for Lexington’s High School Scholarship Program. It celebrates student art and underscores the importance of arts education.
This year’s exhibit features a diverse collection of WHS artwork including colorful paintings, detailed drawings, photography, mixed-media pieces and ceramics, all of which highlight the talent and dedication of Waltham’s young artists.
The exhibit takes the students’ work outside the classroom, where the public can appreciate the creativity and effort behind each piece.
A reception was held on March 6 to kick off the show, with WHS students, teachers and family attending to support the students and celebrate their achievements.
LexArt Gallery is located at 7130 Waltham St. in Lexington. The exhibit ends on March 15.
