WHS girls lacrosse defeats Stoneham in preseason game

The Waltham High School girls lacrosse team opened the preseason with a strong performance, defeating Stoneham 10–4 in a scrimmage as the Hawks prepare for the 2026 season.
Waltham showed strong teamwork, with multiple players contributing on offense while the defense limited Stoneham’s scoring chances. The Hawks also used their speed in transition to create scoring opportunities and control the pace of the game.
Coming off a 2025 season in which the team made the playoffs, Waltham enters the new year with experience and confidence. The Hawks compete in the Dual County League, which includes such teams as Newton South, Lincoln-Sudbury and Acton-Boxborough, and is considered one of the more competitive leagues in Massachusetts.
Waltham will open the regular season on April 1 at Medford High School. That game will be followed by consecutive home contests against Methuen High School, Westford Academy and Acton-Boxborough Regional High School.
With a mix of experienced leaders and developing talent, the Hawks look ready to compete as the season gets underway.
