Waltham Marketplace Day set for Sept. 26 on the Common

The city hosts its first Waltham Marketplace Day on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Waltham Common.

Mayor Jeannette A. McCarthy said “several people over the years have asked me if there was any way we could have a market day on the common where people could sell things.” 

The free outdoor market features nearly 80 vendors selling crafts, clothing, jewelry, food, home goods, beauty products and other items.

Two musical acts are scheduled. Steve Tashjian’s Classic Groove performs from noon to 1 p.m., followed by the Gerry Beaudoin Trio from 1 to 2 p.m.

The event will be held rain or shine, but if a nor’easter arrives as currently forecast, the event will be postponed to another date in October, McCarthy said. “That decision will be made later this week.” Postponement updates will be posted on the city website.
