Celebrate Halloween by taking to the trails in your costume (if it’s safe to do so) and help raise money for the Waltham Land Trust in a super fun, family-friendly way!
Since 2013, the Waltham Land Trust has held the Western Greenway 5K walk and run benefit event where people of all ages traverse a 5K distance through the Western Greenway. Help preserve open space in Waltham while enjoying one of the properties maintained by WLT’s trail stewards for everyone to enjoy.
The 5K (3.1 mile) course goes through and around a variety of habitats in Beaver Brook North Reservation and Rock Meadow, including cattail marshes, forests, vernal pools, and open meadows. This year’s race route is new for 2025!
Before the main race kicks off, kids ages 10 and under can join our 50-yard Monster Dash at 11:30 a.m., a quick, fun sprint where every child gets a small treat for participating. Free for children who attend with an adult running the 5K, $5 suggested donation otherwise. Perfect for little ghosts and goblins who want in on the action!
