The Outer Limits to continue under new ownership after four-decade run

After more than four decades on Moody Street, The Outer Limits has ended its run under longtime owner Steve Higgins, but the Waltham comic book institution is expected to continue under new ownership. 

Higgins opened The Outer Limits at 437 Moody St. in 1983 and operated the store for more than 40 years. Over the decades, the shop became a familiar destination for comic book collectors and fans of pop culture looking for comics, collectibles and other memorabilia.

Higgins retired this summer, marking the end of a remarkable run for a small independent business that had remained a fixture on Moody Street while other businesses faded away. 

But fans will not have to say goodbye to The Outer Limits. A new owner is taking over the business, providing an opportunity for the store to continue serving Waltham’s comic book and collecting community. 

The Outer Limits may be entering a new chapter, but its story in Waltham is not over yet.
