On Waltham Common.
Waltham Boys & Girls Club will kick off Summer Eats, Massachusetts’ summer food service program, with a vibrant community celebration. The event promises fun, entertainment, and free meals for kids and teens, highlighting the power of community and the importance of supporting local families during summer break.
Kids and teens will enjoy a delicious free lunch prepared and served by the Waltham Boys & Girls Club teen interns. The meal will include chicken salad in a whole grain tortilla wrap, cucumber wheels, fresh watermelon, baked chips, and cake for dessert.
The fun doesn’t stop there! DJ MakBeatz will headline the event with live music to keep the energy high, while Pizzi Farm ice cream satisfies your sweet tooth. Complimentary haircuts will be provided to youth by MOBAR, ensuring everyone looks their best. Families can also look forward to an afternoon of engaging games, exciting prizes, and interactive activities brought to life by community partners.
The Summer Eats program, led by Project Bread, ensures children and teens have access to healthy, nutritious meals while school is out. Participating providers, like the Waltham Boys & Girls Club, operate meal sites paired with engaging activities and educational programs. Kids and teens are required to eat onsite at most Summer Eats sites.
All children and teens are welcome to receive free meals. No registration or ID required. For additional support, families can also access SUN Bucks (learn more here), a program providing grocery funding while kids are out of school.
Together, well celebrate the start of a summer focused on growth, learning, and the strength of Waltham!
