Bentley student dies in accidental fall days before graduation

The Bentley University community is mourning the death of a student, Gaurav Jaisingh, who died after falling from a hotel balcony during the school’s annual senior class trip to the Bahamas.

Jaisingh was from Shrewsbury and had majored in finance and computer information systems, according to his LinkedIn profile. He would have graduated with his class this Saturday.

“This is an enormous tragedy for our community,” the university said in a prepared statement. “We share our deepest condolences with Gaurav’s family, friends and loved ones.”

The statement said local authorities completed their investigation and determined Gaurav accidentally fell from a balcony.

The senior trip is held each year in mid-May between finals and commencement, according to the university’s website. A two-decade tradition, the trip includes a four-night stay at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort.

Bentley is providing resources for those who are impacted and encourage anyone who needs support to reach out to the university’s counseling center.
