Waverley Oaks cycling fundraiser raises record $37K for cancer research

Waverley Oaks Athletic Club raised more than $37,000 for the American Cancer Society during its 12th annual Pedal to End Cancer event, setting a new fundraising record, organizers announced.

The three-hour indoor cycling fundraiser, held Sunday, April 26, drew dozens of riders and supporters committed to cancer research and patient support efforts. Proceeds will fund research, patient services and programs aimed at helping individuals and families affected by cancer.

“Cancer touches the lives of so many and being able to contribute in any way — from helping find a cure to supporting those currently in the fight — is what keeps us inspired and focused,” said Heather Healy, senior director of member experience at Waverley Oaks Athletic Club. “Our goal this year was $20,000, so to more than exceed that is truly incredible. We are both amazed and deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our staff, riders and community.”

This year’s total surpassed the previous record of $27,300 and brings the event’s cumulative fundraising to more than $150,000 since it began in 2015.

Organizers said donations remain open through the event’s online fundraising page.
