George H. Beck Jr., 1959–2025, loved sports and the outdoors

George H. Beck Jr. of Waltham passed away unexpectedly after a period of declining health on Monday, August 11, in his residence at the age of 66.
Born on April 24, 1959, in Waltham; he was the beloved son of the late George H. Beck Sr. and Marjorie (Kezer) Beck and step-son to the late Gelina “Jill” M. (Arseneau) Beck. George was born, raised and educated and remained a lifelong resident of Waltham.
A graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 1978, George worked for 7-UP Cola before finding his long-term calling in the pest control industry. He dedicated over 20 years to Waltham Pest Control, earning the trust and respect of countless customers.
George had a deep love for the outdoors. For many years, he and his family spent cherished time together at Mile Away Campground in Henniker, New Hampshire. Whether it was camping, snowmobiling or simply enjoying nature, George felt most at home outside. It was at the campground that he discovered another passion—creating flavorful hot sauces, which turned into a business, “Afterburn Hot Sauce,” that was run alongside his business partner and best friend Doug. He also enjoyed competing in the annual Chili Cook Off with his Mile-Away family at Pat’s Peak.
A devoted supporter of Waltham youth sports, George spent years coaching and mentoring local kids, particularly through Waltham Youth Hockey, where he served as Vice President. He played a pivotal role in adopting the league’s current red and white uniforms, a change that reflected his enduring “Hawk Pride.” His dedication to the young athletes of his community left an indelible mark.
A proud Boston sports fan, George never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved teams. Yet, his greatest joy came from his family. His children and grandchildren were the center of his life, and he attended every event he possibly could to support them. His love, encouragement, and presence will be forever missed.
George leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
He is survived by his devoted & loving sons Matthew P. Beck of Waltham and Adam L. “Gus” Beck and his wife Crystal of Waltham; his cherished granddaughters Madison and Cailyn Beck, his daughter-in-law Patricia A. “Patty” Beck and former wife Linda A. (Valdanbrini) Beck. In addition, he is survived by his grand pups “Mac & Tucker”, many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and numerous friends.
