Waltham Man’s Death While Sailing in Maine Ruled Accidental Drowning

A 74-year-old Waltham man who disappeared while sailing off the coast of Maine over Labor Day weekend drowned, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Maine.

Mark Metzger, 74, was reported missing in the waters off the Long Island Ledges in Bremen on Aug. 31, after friends were unable to locate him. His body was recovered several hours later.

The Portland Press Herald reported that the medical examiner’s office ruled his death accidental.

Metzger had been spending the holiday weekend visiting friends in the Midcoast Maine region.
