Elaine LeBlanc, 1950–2026, former teacher’s aide at The Whittemore School in Waltham

Elaine P. LeBlanc (Murphy), of Waltham, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, at The Maristhill Nursing Center surrounded by her loving friends and family. She was 75.
Elaine was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas Murphy, former editor of the Waltham News Tribune, and the late Elizabeth (Bonin) Murphy, both of Waltham. She was the loving sister of the late Thomas Murphy, Jr. of Florida, the late Kevin Murphy of Waltham, and the late Elizabeth Taylor of Houston, Texas.
Elaine’s family played an influential role in establishing the present site of the Waltham Boys & Girls Club, a legacy of community involvement that remained close to her heart.
Elaine worked for many years as a teacher’s aide at The Whittemore School in Waltham, where she formed many lifelong friendships. She treasured her summers playing cards with her dear friend Joy and others at Green Harbor in Marshfield, and she and her husband Joseph enjoyed traveling each year to his family cottage on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. They also spent many happy summers together at their campsite on Newfound Lake, New Hampshire.
Quick with a joke and always offering a warm smile, Elaine was known for her love of decorating for the seasonal holidays and for cooking for family and friends. She truly loved life and cherished her family and friendships. Elaine brought joy and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to know her and she will be deeply missed.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, the late Joseph C. LeBlanc of Waltham and her former husband and the father of her two children Paul O’Brien.
Elaine is survived by her devoted children, Thomas Richard O’Brien of Norwood and Elizabeth P. O’Brien of Marlborough; her grandchildren, Paul and Olivia; and numerous nieces, nephews and her dear friends.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to gather and remember Elaine during visiting hours on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Mary Catherine Chapel at Brasco & Sons Memorial Chapels, located 773 Moody Street, Waltham, MA, followed by a celebration of Elaine’s life at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
