Hundreds of people from Waltham and surrounding communities converged on Waltham Common Thursday, Jan. 8, to protest what organizers call “lawless ICE violence” by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency. Many people held signs referring to the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on Jan. 6. Dozens of vehicles honked in support as they drove through the intersection of Main and Moody streets.

The demonstration was organized by advocacy groups Waltham Concerned Citizens, Indivisible Waltham and Fuerza Waltham. The organizers said they are calling on residents to join a standout on Waltham Common this Saturday, Jan. 10, 11 a.m. to noon, as part of a nationwide protest.
