Fire crews responded to a fire at 57 High St. on Friday afternoon that quickly escalated to a second alarm.

The first crews arrived at about 3:45 p.m. on April 17 to find flames visible from the front of the building. Officials struck a second alarm, bringing additional companies to the scene as firefighters worked to knock down heavy fire on the first floor and check if it had spread throughout the structure.

Crews brought the bulk of the fire under control following an aggressive interior attack.

Six adults and one child were displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

No injuries were immediately reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
