For seniors: Spanish coffee hour, drawing and 250 years of American song

Waltham’s Council on Aging operates out of the William F. Stanley Senior Center at 488 Main St. The spacious, well-equipped center offers an abundant series of programs for exercise, music, classes and socializing. The center provides File of Life cards to keep important information in one handy location. Use the card to list emergency contacts, medications, health issues and medical history. The card comes in a red plastic magnetic holder that can be placed on a refrigerator. A smaller version is available to carry with you. The COA requires you to carry this card on their day trips.
Hora del café, coffee hour for Spanish speakers, takes place Wednesdays 10:30–11:30 a.m.
Wednesday, June 24, 11 a.m. — Drawing with Fred. Fred Grandinetti is a cartoonist from Watertown with a cable access series called Drawing with Fred. He will teach participants how to draw classic characters including Popeye, Olive Oyl, Wimpy and Fred Flintstone. Cost: $2 per person due at sign up. Please register.
Friday, June 26, 11 a.m. — Flowers with Ernie. Celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary with a patriotic flower arrangement of fresh red, white and blue blooms. Cost: $10 per person due at sign up. Please register.
Friday, June 26, 1 p.m. — 250 years of music. John Clark presents historical and cultural music commemorating 250 years of American music as the nation observes its 250th birthday. His program will include songs from across the land, from traditional to rock ’n’ roll. You’ll learn about our country’s history from these tunes. Cost: $2 due at sign up. Please register.
