The Waltham Fire Department responded to Prospect Hill Park for a reported brush fire at approximately 4 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters arrived and located a 30-by-30-foot area of burning brush, pine needles, trees and other vegetation near the Sunset Trail. Crews deployed hand lines and used the department’s off-road utility vehicle to access the fire deep within the wooded area.

Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period extinguishing hot spots and conducting overhaul operations to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.
