Here comes the strum. Watch City Ukers serenade the common

A balmy breeze wafted across Waltham Common on Monday evening, carrying the thrum of plucked strings. This was not the sound of a guitar gently weeping but of an ensemble of ukulele enthusiasts, two dozen strong, strumming and singing for the sheer pleasure of making music together. Guided by notebook devices displaying lyrics and chords, the ukuleleists and one drummer (“our Ringo”) sang the masterpieces of the Fab Four with verve and in tune. Their playing drew a few curious onlookers and rewarded them with a delightful moment of musical magic. The Watch City Ukers plan to meet on the common again on August 17.
