The Salvation Army hosted its annual Tools for School: Backpack and School Supply Giveaway on Aug. 10 for families from Waltham, Watertown and Newton. The event occurred at 33 Myrtle St. and was sponsored by the Lions Club, which also provide snacks, activities and other giveaways. The Salvation Army filled 800 backpacks with school supplies and distributed them to local families. Photographer Linda Haas captured the scene. School starts in Waltham on Sept. 2.
