The week ahead: Waltham Common block party marks end of summer
The city will hold a community block party on Waltham Common Saturday, Aug. 29, between 5 to 9 p.m. Billed as a family event,the celebration will feature free food and entertainment, including puppets, music and a laser show.
The city will also hold a few government meetings this week. Here’s a rundown of meetings scheduled from Aug. 24 through 28.
Tree removal hearing
The city’s tree warden will hold a public hearing to discuss the removal of nine Norway maple trees, one silver maple and one honey locust for a variety of health and safety reasons.
The Department of Public Works will host the meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday at 167 Lexington St. The city has asked that anyone with a complaint submit it in writing before the hearing to kthompson@city.waltham.ma.us.
Zoning Board of Appeals
The ZBA will hear a request from private homeowners to construct a single-story garage on their Wimbledon Circle property. The board will also consider extending the timeframe for 2023 variances granted at 1122–1130 Main St.
The board will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Arthur Clark Government Center.
License Commission
The Licence Commission will meet on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the public meeting room of the Clark Government Center at 119 School St. The agenda will be posted Monday on the Licensing Department page of the city’s website.
