From goslings to runway, a season on the river

As I was watching a cormorant one day, I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a flock of Canada geese in formation landing on the river. I quickly turned 90 degrees to my left and started shooting as fast as I could. Although these birds are very common throughout the year, it is always endearing to see the family unit grow up with the passing of the seasons, from spring, when tiny little goslings sleep together on the river bank, to fall, when they gain their adult feathers and start practicing flight, using the river as a runway.
