5K fundraiser fuels future for local kids

Enthusiasts of all ages will lace up their running shoes in a couple of months to support a cause that has long shaped local youth.
The upcoming Flight 5K, a fundraiser organized to benefit the Waltham Boys & Girls Club, is set for Saturday, May 9, at 10:15 a.m. The race starts at The Mighty Squirrel, 411 Waverley Oaks Road.
Runners can enjoy pre- and post-race festivities at Mighty Squirrel’s outdoor beer garden, with food trucks on the premises and a great all-around atmosphere.
For decades the WBGC has provided a safe haven for Waltham’s youth, offering after-school programs, leadership opportunities and a place to grow. All proceeds from Flight 5K will go toward sustaining these activities, helping ensure that every child finds support and inspiration.
Whether you roll it, walk it or race it, the race organizers are happy to have as many people as possible representing the community.
The Flight 5K is presented by Flight Performance and Fitness, a specialized strength and conditioning facility in Waltham that focuses on personalized training for both athletes and adults.

At checkout, runners can also sponsor a child from WBGC to run by writing SPONSOR RUNNER as the first and last name of the participant. The donation pays for someone who may not otherwise be able to participate as an official entrant.
