Waltham firefighters assist in 3-alarm Weston fire

Weston firefighters, with assistance from Waltham and surrounding departments, battled a 3-alarm wind-driven fire at 65 Montvale Road on Tuesday afternoon. The fire tore through a 2.5-story wood-frame private dwelling, spreading rapidly due to strong winds. Command reported fire extending through the C-side walls from the first floor up into the attic, requiring an aggressive attack. Crews faced additional challenges as several nearby hydrants were covered in snow, delaying water supply operations. Despite these obstacles, firefighters brought the fire under control, deploying multiple hose lines and utilizing additional manpower. This incident highlights the importance of keeping hydrants clear in winter months and the critical role of mutual aid, as regional departments worked together to combat the blaze.
