Collision on River Street sends two to hospital

Two people were hospitalized following a serious crash involving a motorcycle and a Jeep near River Street and School Avenue around 7:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Emergency responders found an  injured motorcyclist on the roof of the Jeep. Police requested an expedited response from paramedics and applied a tourniquet before firefighters and Armstrong Ambulance arrived to assist.

The motorcycle operator, a 43-year-old Waltham resident, was transported to a local hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries. The operator of the Jeep, a 47-year-old Waltham resident, was also transported to a local hospital with a back injury.

Several witnesses were present at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Waltham Police Crash Reconstruction Unit. No further details are available at this time.
