City leaf-vacuuming program starts next week

The city provides a leaf vacuuming program starting next Monday, Oct. 26. Leaves from each household will be vacuumed one day per year, per street, October — December (see schedule below).

Bring your leaves to your curb before the Monday of your pick-up week. Make sure you’re not covering any storm drains. No sticks, brush, garden refuse or other waste — only leaves.

Leaves won’t necessarily be picked up on your usual trash and recycling day but will be picked up once during your scheduled week. The leaf vacuuming program enhances the already established yard waste pick-up program but does not replace it. The leaf vacuuming schedule rotates every year. This year, the schedule will begin with residents who have a Monday trash pick-up route.

Leaves will be vacuumed only once during your designated week, not necessarily on your trash pick-up day. Here’s the schedule:

Monday pick-up: Oct. 26–29

Tuesday pick-up: Nov. 2–6

Wednesday pick-up: Nov. 9–13

Thursday pick-up: Nov. 16–20

Friday pick-up: Nov. 23–27

Don’t know your trash pick-up day? Consult the city’s trash and recycling day map.
