Richard (Dic) Driver is a retired scientist who lives in the Hardy Pond area of Waltham. He is married to Linda Haas, a photographer for The Waltham Times, whom he often accompanies on photo shoots. His passions include science in all its forms, world travel with his wife Linda, reading (especially Scandinavian mysteries), the Welsh language of which he is a native speaker and his family and especially his grandchildren who bring him great joy. Far from being bored by retirement, he is a member of the Artisan’s Asylum, a maker space in Allston, where he has taught robotics and is currently working on a series of affordable ultraviolet and infrared spectrometers for citizen science.
