Waltham firefighters aid crews in Belmont house fire

Waltham firefighters assisted Belmont crews in battling a two-alarm fire at 592 Pleasant St. on Sunday afternoon.

The fire required a significant response as flames spread rapidly through the 2.5-story single-family structure.

Initial reports indicated that the fire started on the second floor, with heavy flames visible from the back side of the home.

Firefighters worked quickly to knock down the bulk of the fire on the second floor, while crews continued opening it up to prevent further spread. However, the fire extended into the cockloft, complicating efforts to fully extinguish it.

Emergency personnel remained on scene for an extended period to ensure all hotspots were addressed. No injuries had been reported as of Sunday evening.
