Vehicle crashes into Cambridge Reservoir in Waltham; one injured

Emergency crews responded around 4 p.m. Tuesday to the 1100 block of Winter Street after a vehicle plunged into the Cambridge Reservoir.

Waltham fire and police units arrived to find the vehicle submerged and initiated a water rescue. A dive team was deployed, and crews used a boat to contain potential fuel or fluid leaks and limit any environmental impact.

One person was transported to Lahey Hospital with injuries that were not immediately known.

Waltham Auto Tow assisted at the scene, using a wrecker to remove the vehicle from the reservoir.

Crews remained on scene for an extended period as recovery operations continued. The incident remains under investigation.
