High-speed car chase ends in Waltham

A high-speed police chase that began in the Boston area ended with an arrest near Route 20 in Waltham late Tuesday night. 

The Massachusetts State Police pursued a van reaching speeds of over 90 mph on I-95 northbound. State Police were able to slow the vehicle by deploying spike strips near the Waltham area.

The pursuit ended when the van stopped northbound on I-95 near Route 20. Reports indicate that an State Police cruiser was involved in the chase and was reportedly struck during the incident. The driver of the van was taken into custody at the scene.

In addition to the cruiser, multiple law enforcement vehicles and civilian cars reportedly hit the spike sticks during the chase, prompting authorities to request several tow trucks to clear the affected vehicles.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the chase, including where it began and any additional damage caused along the route.
