Waltham students display their art at Annual Regional High School Exhibit

More than 70 works of art by Waltham High School students are on display at the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society through Sunday.

The works include drawings, paintings, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry. The students also collaborated to create a striking mural, which dominates one of the gallery’s walls.

WHS art teacher Kathleen Flynn said teachers typically choose works that are completed and ready to put on display. “We usually ask students to pick one or more of the works they wish to submit,” she said.

During the opening reception on Friday, March 14, ninth-grader Connor Rosenblatt talked about how much he enjoys making art. He works in ceramics and also draws and has studied photography. He likes taking art classes to improve his skills and has even sold some of his work, he said.

LexArt Gallery is located at 7130 Waltham St. in Lexington. The show ends this Sunday, March 23.

Art by Waltham students from all grades will be displayed next month at the Waltham Public Schools All District Art Show at the Waltham Public Library, 735 Main St. This show will run from April 1 to May 2. There will be a reception for the all district show on April 10, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
