Shawn Laswell’s family hopes to locate some of the artist’s paintings

The late Waltham artist Shawn Laswell, known as Spectacle Spectacle, displayed much of his art in public places and gave many works away. People in the community appreciated him for his unconventional and generous nature. But this has also created challenges for his family as they try to document his body of work.

The Laswell family hopes the public can help locate two paintings in particular.

One painting was inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s iconic “Starry Night.” Laswell called it “Starry Starry Night.” It measures around 24-by-24 inches.

The second painting is Laswell’s portrait of van Gogh, which is approximately 16-by-24 inches.

Both works were created around 2019, said the artist’s mother, Donna Laswell. “It could be at one of the businesses in Waltham or possibly even in surrounding communities,” she said.
