The school department has released bus routes for the new school year and reminded families of district transportation policies. The full list of bus routes can be viewed here.

Routes are reassigned each year based on student enrollment and eligibility. Students cannot use any bus or stop other than their designated ones, officials said.

Per School Committee policy, transportation is provided for students in grades K through 8 who live more than 1.5 miles from school and for grades 9 through 12 who live more than two miles away. Students living closer are identified as “walkers.” To support them, school traffic supervisors are posted at designated locations in coordination with police and school officials.

Bus rules require adult supervision for students in kindergarten through grade 2 at pick-up and drop-off. Eating and drinking are not allowed on buses, and only authorized staff may enter.

Large buses seat 77 passengers and small buses seat 28, with elementary students sitting three to a bench and older students sitting two.

Additional information is available in the district’s Student Handbooks or from the Transportation Office at transportation@walthampublicschools.org.
