Public safety report: Car strikes house on Arlington Road

Police responded to Arlington Road on Oct. 26 at 1:59 a.m. after a car had struck a house. 

According to police, the driver of the vehicle said he had parked his car but the car then accelerated without pressing on the gas pedal. The car struck the front retaining wall and front deck of the house and sustained a large scrape in the process. The driver was cited for failing to use care when starting, stopping or backing up.

A summary of additional police activity from Oct. 23 to Oct. 28 is as follows:

On Oct. 23 at 11:14 a.m., police responded to Our Lady’s Academy where the reporting party alleged that a check that had been mailed was intercepted and then altered and made out to a party in New York in the amount of $11,000. The matter is under investigation.

The police responded to a suspicious incident at Waltham High School at 12:40 p.m. on Oct. 23. A second suspicious incident was reported at WHS on Oct. 28. A police spokesperson said that due to the nature of the events, no further details can be supplied. Both matters are under investigation.

Police responded to a call from a customer at the Burger King on Moody Street. The reporting party alleged that the restaurant had gotten her order incorrect and charged her twice for her meal. The reporting party threw her meal back into the drive-thru window. In response, a worker inside threw ketchup at the woman. Police located the reporting party, who said she would come down to the police station if she decided to file a report. No report was filed.

On Oct. 26 at 3:56 a.m., police responded to 200 Trapelo Road where the security officer on duty reported seeing individuals walking on the property. The police were unable to locate anyone but did locate several large boulders that had been put in the roadway seemingly to block vehicle access. The responding officers believed it would have taken numerous people to collect and move the boulders. The boulders were removed from the roadway by the police.
