Public safety report: Woman allegedly brandishes a knife at man in parking lot

A New Hampshire woman was arrested in Waltham this week after allegedly brandishing a knife at a man in a Chipotle parking lot.

On April 24 at 11:12 a.m., police responded to Chipotle at 1110 Lexington St. where a man called to report a woman who had run behind his car and allegedly brandished a knife. By the time police arrived, the woman had left the area. The man was able to provide a description of the vehicle the woman left in.

Officers stopped the vehicle soon after on Lexington Street and, after speaking to both parties about the matter, arrested Kristen Rennie, 39, from Franklin, N.H. on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Rennie pleaded not guilty to the charge and will face a pretrial hearing on June 15. She is currently released on personal recognizance per order of Judge Ellen M. Caulo.

A summary of additional police activity from April 23 to April 28 is as follows:

On April 23 at 9:19 a.m., police responded to Mt. Feake Cemetery where a man stated that someone had told him he wasn’t allowed to walk through the cemetery at the time of his 911 call. Due to a high volume of calls, police response was delayed. The man was unable to provide any additional information about the incident.

On April 24 at 12:51 p.m., police responded to Bear Hill Road where a woman reported that someone had called her and identified themself as an employee of the Waltham Police Department. The caller demanded money for unpaid parking tickets, stating that if they weren’t paid a family member would be arrested. The call turned out to be a scam.

On April 24 at 4:03 p.m., police responded to the Verizon store at 842 Lexington St. Multiple people had reported being defrauded by a man there who was posing as a Verizon employee. A warrant was issued for the suspect.

On April 27 at 12:23 p.m., police responded to Felton Street where a caller reported that landscaping equipment valued at $3,500 was stolen from a locked storage yard between April 23 and April 24. Police are currently investigating the incident.

All information was obtained from spokespeople with the Waltham Police and Fire departments, the publicly available police blotter and police reports available at Waltham District Court.
