Bentley stuns Molloy in dramatic walk-off to reach Division II World Series 

A historic season for the Bentley Falcons baseball reached another milestone Saturday as Bentley won the NCAA Division II East Regional title by a score of 3-2 in dramatic walk-off fashion. It’s Bentley’s first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II World Series. 

With the game tied 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning against Molloy University,  Stan DeMartinis III scored the winning run on a wild pitch, sending the Falcons pouring out of the dugout in celebration. 

DeMartinis reached base after being hit by a pitch before Brendan Sencaj followed with a single. David VanderZouwen later advanced both runners before a pitch in the dirt got by the catcher, allowing DeMartinis to race home with the winning run.

Bentley fell behind early after Molloy hit a solo home run in the first inning, but the Falcons responded in the sixth. Sencaj opened the inning by blasting a solo homer over the left-field fence to tie the game 1-1. Curt Heath followed with a single, and later in the inning Jimmy Mitchell scored on a fielder’s choice to give Bentley a 2-1 lead. Molloy answered with a run in the seventh inning to even the score once again.

Starting pitcher Sam Belliveau delivered one of the biggest performances of the season for Bentley, striking out eight batters across eight strong innings while allowing just one earned run. Pitcher Keegan Antelman earned the win after throwing a hitless ninth inning and striking out two batters.

The Falcons will play their first-ever NCAA Division II World Series game against the University of Tampa Spartans on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 6 p.m. ET in Cary, North Carolina.
