Waltham High hosts annual mock crash to promote safe driving
Waltham High School students, first responders, school officials and community members participated in the school’s annual mock crash drill last Friday, ahead of senior prom and graduation.
The demonstration, held outside the new Waltham High School campus, aimed to highlight the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. The realistic scenario featured emergency response vehicles, student actors portraying injured victims and simulated rescue operations as firefighters, police officers and EMS crews responded to a staged crash.
Waltham police, fire and Armstrong Ambulance personnel joined school staff in coordinating the event, while students gathered outside to watch the presentation.
Several Waltham High students volunteered to take part in the demonstration, helping create a realistic scene intended to leave a lasting impression on their classmates.
The mock drill is part of a broader effort carried out at high schools across Massachusetts each spring to encourage safe driving decisions before end-of-year celebrations.
