Around 200 community leaders and sponsors of Waltham Partnership for Youth gathered on Wednesday evening to celebrate the young people who have taken on internship roles throughout the city along with the sponsors who fund WPY programs. Guests enjoyed samosas, dumplings and charcuterie while listening to inspirational speeches.

Waltham High sophomore Liliana Hernandez Ramirez impressed the audience with her heartfelt account of coming to the United States from Guatemala. She has completed three WPY internships to date, an experience that has changed her from an insecure preteen into a poised public speaker.

The Waltham Family School received WPY’s Community Impact Award for making a positive difference in the lives of Waltham’s immigrant children and parents.
