Bentley’s record-setting season comes to close in World Series loss

The 2026 season for the Bentley University baseball team came to an end Monday afternoon as the Falcons lost to Catawba, 15-8, in the NCAA Division II World Series.

Bentley finished the season with a program-record 44 wins and reached the Division II World Series for the first time in school history. The team also  won its first NCAA East Regional championship and first Northeast-10 Conference title earlier in the season.

The Falcons battled back after trailing 6-2 in the fourth inning, scoring four runs to tie the game at 6-6. Bentley later pulled within 10-8 in the seventh inning, but Catawba responded late to secure the win and advance.

Curt Heath helped lead Bentley’s offense with several key hits during the comeback effort, while Tommy Bolton also drove in runs as the Falcons tried to erase the deficit. Bentley showed resilience throughout the game, continuing to battle despite falling behind multiple times.

Bentley opened the game with a first-inning run and stayed competitive throughout much of the afternoon, but Catawba’s offense proved too much down the stretch. Despite the loss, the Falcons’ postseason run marked the most successful season the program has ever had and set new milestones for the university.
