Police cruiser involved in two-car crash at Pond and Lexington

A Waltham Police cruiser was involved in a two-car crash Thursday evening at the intersection of Pond and Lexington streets, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m. and found a police cruiser and an Audi SUV with significant front-end damage. Airbags had deployed in both vehicles.

Both drivers declined medical treatment and reported no injuries, according to information from the scene.

Traffic was briefly disrupted as crews worked to assess the crash and clear debris from the roadway.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
