The week ahead: City boards slow down for the summer break

Although Waltham keeps running all year, its boards’ meeting schedules slow down for the summer.

After last week’s meeting, City Council is officially on break until its special summer session on Aug. 3. Some boards, such as the School Committee, Conservation Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, keep meeting throughout the summer months, albeit more sporadically. Others take July and August off entirely, short of any special emergency meetings.

Below is a chronological rundown of city meetings scheduled this week, June 29 through July 3.

Council on Aging

The Board of Trustees for the city’s Council on Aging, which organizes services for older Waltham residents and advocates for legislation that includes and protects them, is slated to meet in the conference room of the William F. Stanley Senior Center at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Cemetery Commission

The Cemetery Commission oversees the finances and maintenance of Waltham’s cemeteries. Its meetings are often not open to the public unless its members have special topics or projects to discuss.

The commission will meet this Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Cemetery Office at 203 Prospect St.
