Waltham crews put out building fire on Brown Street
Police and fire crews responded to a reported building fire early Monday at 16 Brown St., authorities said.
Officers arrived at about 12:59 a.m. and began evacuating residents while reporting visible smoke but no active flames. Firefighters located burning insulation inside the building and quickly knocked down the fire.
Crews then opened the first-floor kitchen ceiling, where they found additional smoldering insulation. Firefighters removed sections of the ceiling to ensure the fire had not spread farther.
No injuries were immediately reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
