Volunteers keep the rail trail trash-free

By EMILY SZCZYPEK

On a cold and raw Saturday morning, Waltham Land Trust stewards along with members of Bike Together Waltham picked up litter along the Mass Central Rail Trail from Border Road by Market Basket to the Linden Street bridge.

The nine volunteers picked up 12 large garbage bags of litter and one bag of recyclables.

The state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) removed the bags.
