Public Safety Watch: School bus involved in crash at Lexington-Beaver streets intersection; seven taken to hospital

Police responded to a crash involving multiple vehicles, including a school bus, at the intersection of Lexington and Beaver streets at 8:26 a.m. on Friday. 

Seven people, including six students, were taken to the hospital

The bus was traveling northbound on Lexington Street when it hit a white van taking a left onto Beaver Street, according to a press release from the Police Department.

The collision caused the van to roll over a third vehicle that was stopped at a red light.

The van’s driver and six students were sent to a local hospital for minor injuries. 

Police said the accident is under investigation.

A summary of police activity from Jan. 10 through Jan. 16 is as follows:

At 10:02 a.m. police responded to a report of a package theft at 31 Bowker St.

At 1:37 p.m. the Police and Fire departments were dispatched to a report of a stump that caught fire outside Evident Scientific Solutions at 48 Woerd Ave. The Fire Department extinguished the burn.

Hatsumy Mamani-Jesus, 21, of 67 Lexington St., Belmont, was arrested and charged at 6:03 p.m. with one count of failure to use care when starting a motor vehicle and one count of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Michelle Aucoin, 35, of 20 Jennings Road, Waltham, was arrested and charged at 11:24 p.m. for possession of a class B drug.

Also on Jan. 10, police responded to two calls for property vandalism and three motor vehicle accidents.

On Jan. 11 at 1:01 a.m., police responded to a report of an unwanted individual at Joco’s at 450 Moody St.

At 10:58 a.m. police responded to reports of individuals throwing snow into the intersection of Adams and Orange streets. The call turned out to be unfounded.

At 8:12 p.m. police responded to a report of a raccoon at a property on Philips Circle.

Police responded to 12 reports of motor vehicle crashes that day.

On Jan. 12 at 10:34 a.m., police responded to a 911 hang-up at a Main Street address.

At 11:24 a.m. police responded to a report of an individual having issues breathing at a residence on Kings Way.

Wilser Sandoval Montoya, 21, homeless, of Waltham was arrested at 6:57 p.m. and charged with one count each of trespassing and misdemeanor breaking and entering.

On Jan. 13, 11:32 a.m. police responded to a hazardous spill at 17 Jennings St. Oil from a vehicle had leaked onto a roadway.

At 3:56 p.m. police responded to an illegally parked vehicle at 95 Crescent St.

At 5:58 p.m. police responded to an incident involving an individual’s dog at a residence on Lexington Street.

On Jan. 14 at 7:24 a.m., police responded to a report of a larceny at 66 Newton St.

At 5:30 p.m. police responded to a victim of a motor vehicle hit-and-run at Lexington Terrace. Police conducted an investigation that identified the operator who allegedly hit the vehicle; police cited the operator.

On Jan. 15 at 9:24 a.m., police were called to an abandoned motor vehicle that was impeding northbound traffic on Lexington Street. Shortly after, a duffel bag was found on Emmeline Avenue that investigators believed to have a possible connection to the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

Kevin Ramirez, 25, of 37 Falmouth St., Lawrence, was arrested and charged in connection to a warrant from another jurisdiction.

On Jan. 16 at 3:55 a.m., police responded to a report of an overdose at a residence on Kings Way.

Martin Darcy, 47, of 44 Chester Ave, Waltham, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. and charged with receiving stolen property and larceny under $1,200.

UPDATE: An incident involving domestic violence was removed from the log due to concerns for the privacy of the victims.
