Volunteers needed to help renovate Prospect Hill overlook

A Waltham Girl Scout troop is organizing a volunteer event at Prospect Hill overlook this Sunday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon. Local residents are encouraged to attend.
The overlook gives Prospect Hill visitors a great view of Boston after they complete a short hike. However, it hasn’t been updated in several years, and the troop plans to renovate the site to make it more enjoyable for visitors to learn about the area and environment.
The project includes planting native flowers and repainting the railings to give the overlook an updated feel. Signs will be established to educate visitors about the view and their local environment.
At this event, volunteers can expect to help paint the railings and update a flower garden. Those interested in attending should wear comfortable clothing that they would not mind getting dirt or paint on. In the case of rain, the event will be postponed to a later date.
Materials will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring a paintbrush or small paint roller. Volunteers can either hike or drive to the area by following the road signs to the overlook. There is a parking lot a short walk away from the Boston lookout.
