Public Safety Watch: Waltham man arrested for assault and battery on a police officer

A Waltham man was arrested after police said he kicked an officer in the leg and spat in the face of another after officers responded to a call reporting a possibly intoxicated man.

The call, which came to police on Sunday, Feb. 2, reported a man on the sidewalk near the intersection of South and Winthrop streets.

Responding officers found the man and attempted to put him into protective custody, suspecting he was intoxicated. The police identified the man as Jonathan Gray, 39, of 24 Winthrop St., Waltham.
