The National Weather Service has declared a winter storm watch from Saturday at 7 p.m. through 4 p.m. Sunday.
Heavy snow is possible, according to the weather service, with total snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches.
Saturday is expected to start with clear skies, with gradually increasing clouds. Most of the accumulation should occur in the overnight hours, beginning around 10 p.m. The snowfall should be lighter by Sunday afternoon.
The weather service notes that snow totals may be lower if the path of the storm runs further south than expected.
The storm watch covers all of Massachusetts east of the Berkshires except for the Cape and islands; portions of northern Connecticut; and Rhode Island, except for Block Island.
Another winter storm is possible Tuesday night into Wednesday.
