Community comes together for National Trails Day cleanup in Waltham
More than 20 people marked National Trails Day on June 6 by joining stewards from the Waltham Land Trust for a cleanup along the Mass Central Rail Trail, removing litter from the stretch between Hammond Street and the reNEW apartment complex east of Linden Street.
National Trails Day is an annual event organized by the American Hiking Society to encourage people to get outside and enjoy, maintain and advocate for trails in their communities.
In addition to collecting litter, volunteers enjoyed seeing wildlife along the trail. Organizers thanked everyone who took part and reminded the public that designated Rail Trail parking is available in the AutoZone lot at 140 Lexington St. on weekends.
